On Thursday 27 March Newhaven Fort celebrated it's reopening following an extensive £7.5m restoration with a royal visit by His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester. A full press release from Newhaven Fort can be read here.

As the press release notes The Duke is the Patron of the Fortress Study Group and we were pleased to be represented on the day by our Treasurer Geoff Lee who was very impressed by the standard of the exhibition material.

Newhaven Fort has been open to the public as a military museum since 1988. The FSG applaud the work by Lewes District Council to secure the funds and give the fort new impetus as a vistor attraction. It is encouraging to see that the fort will cater for a range of interests and ages with a new adventure playground and events space as well as representing the military history.

The Fortress Study Group CIO is a registered charity, No 1194017.
